Loved seeing “Muscle Shoals” tonight with Savage at the Belcourt. The movie was a great peek into the whole scene of Muscle Shoals AL. However, the Belcourt seems, with all it’s quaint movie theater charm, to attract that ilk of people that love to draw attention to themselves as the movie plays out by vocalizing their two year old sensibility, thus somehow making the movie about them and interrupting the viewing experience for the rest of us.
One lady felt the need to narrate all the titles and add an “uh huh” after key lines. We get it, ma’am, you know the lyrics to Sweet “Home Alabama” and “Respect.” So do we. We’d just rather hear the original version than yours. We’ve heard people butcher the song enough. Yes, we hear you. Please use your inside voice.
Other than that, it was great.
Well, after two slammin’ gigs, the fall US tour with Robben Ford came to an abrupt end yesterday when Robben realized that playing on his newly discovered fractured hand was not going to cooperate with the rest of the tour dates. My thoughts and prayers are with him and I wish a speedy and total recovery. He plans on making all the remaining dates up at some point soon in the future, and we’ll be doing the live recording most likely as originally scheduled in late October. May he have the speediest of recoveries! Here’s a pic from the last gig we did. Damn, those Pearl Drums Look cool!
I’m really honored and psyched to being playing with the Robben Ford Band on the US Fall tour this year. Holding down the groove with me are Brian Allan (Bass) and Ricky Peterson (B3 Organ). Barry Greene (Trombone) will also be joining us towards the end of the tour and finishing the run with us for a live record/DVD in Nashville in late October. Check out the Tour Dates page for info on the cities and venues.
